This is my place.
This is where I’m meant to be.
Next to you.
Squished by you.
Close to you.
So close I can feel the beats of your heart and the breaths you’re taking.
After a long day with you, I’m a bit touched out, there’s no doubt.
But there’s something about bedtime with you that I never tire of.
It’s your smell.
It’s the softness in your voice.
It’s the gentle way in which you kiss my face.
It’s the polite way you ask “please put your arm around me.”
It feels so natural, for both of us.
We both feel safe.
We both feel needed.
We both feel gratitude for the other.
We both feel, deep within our tired, child and adult bones, the unparalleled bond the that binds us.
In this sacred space.
In this bed.
In each others arms.
Head to head and heart to heart.
This is my place.
This is where I’m meant to be.
This is where I want to be —
from now, until eternity.
