I got married when I was 31. Was diagnosed with heart failure when I was 32 and I had a heart transplant when I was 34. It was a busy few years to say the least.

Once I had my new heart we knew that I had a chance to have a baby. We did a lot of research and decided to go for it. Everything was fine until it wasn’t. I had preeclampsia at 24 weeks. Our son was born the day after Christmas, he was due in the middle of April.

It was terrifying but we are lucky that we live close to an amazing children’s hospital. Our beautiful boy was so tiny and hooked to so many machines. There was nothing to do but wait for him to grow and ride the NICU roller coaster.

After 173 days we finally brought our guy home!
