Hey, I am writing my first post today to let you all know how to prepare your home for summer. I was an interior designer for years and learned a thing or two about improving your home for the summer months.

Tip 1 - think gardening. The garden is the kids favourite part of the house in summer time. This is where they can come out and play. Kids love trampolines and paddling pools, the latter for younger kids of course!

Tip 2 - think of the flooring. Kids love to play on the floor and run about barefooted. Consider adding some soft carpets to make your home feel more, well, homely. Adding carpet will also give your kids a comfortable place to play - just be careful for carpet burns!

Tip 3 - Setup a living room play area. Having kids makes you feel young again. Ditch the grown up living room and turn it into a place where you and the kids can play together.

Tip 4 - Storage. With kids comes a ton of additional of baggage. You are going to need all of the storage you can find! Make clever use of space.

Making your home friendly creates an environment your kids can thrive in. Growing up your kids needs to feel that their home is a safe and secure place. Making the home as much the kid's as it is yours is a very important step in helping kids feel and maintain a sense of belonging growing up.

Hopefully these tips can help you create that special home environment. The video below gives some more information on how to make your home child friendly.
