Dr. Seuss is the beloved children’s book author that changed the entire experience of learning to read for children. His colorful and quirky illustrations are so delightful that they are recreated in the décor and themes of children’s birthday parties year after year.Since its National Read Across America Day, held every year to coincide with Dr. Seuss’s birthday, I thought it would be fun to share some Dr. Seuss themed birthday party food ideas.

The Lorax

Orange juice in milk jars or repurposed Starbucks Frappuccino bottles.I used a template to cut out the Lorax Mustache and a mini orange pompom for the nose to depict the Lorax himself. Serve refreshing orange juice with Truffula Tree Seeds – Fruit Loops Bloopers, to remind children to plant a tree.

Dr. Seuss Juice

Hallmarks of Dr. Seuss book pictures include bright primary colors. For example, the vibrant reds and blues featured in The Cat in the Hat are now trademark colors of many Dr. Seuss inspired birthday parties and décor. I am paying ode with Dr. Seuss Juice.

Use Blue Mason Jars and Red Straws, fill with water or lemonade (any fairly clear colored drink will work, so that the color of the blue jar is not distorted).

Cat in The Hat Red Velvet Cake Shots

Small or miniature servings of food delight children and make children’s birthday parties easy to plan. Another tribute to Cat in The Hat is red velvet cake layered with cream cheese frosting in shot glasses.

Cat in The Hat

That famous red and white striped hat that the cat wears is loved by children and adults everywhere. It’s almost the first thing that pops into everyone’s mind when they hear the name Dr. Seuss. So, I had to pay tribute to the famous book with The Cat in The Hat Shots that adults and children can both enjoy. Raspberry Trifle in shot glasses signify the famous hat with perfection.

One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish

Bringing the elements of One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish to life, I have pink ink – Strawberry Milk Shake for children and adults alike who like to drink and wink like the Yink in One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish!
