Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

You've just got to get up.

Get up and get going.

Maybe that's the advice we can offer today's young people.

Perhaps we older folk could use the reminder as well.

That life is not all about

looking good,

having or making a lot of money,

how big your house is,

how much your car is worth,

what crowd you run with,

your list or lack thereof of laudable accomplishments,

how popular you are,

what others say or think about you,

and surely not how "well" you do anything.

It's a hard pill to swallow because, for most of us, we've gone our whole lives trying to impress ourselves with ourselves.

And for what reason? To what end?

What happens when we do that is that nothing we do, and therefore each of us as a human, is ever enough.

And that, well, it's a load of bull.

So stop swallowing it, 'cause I sure am.

Get tired of gauging your worth by how your living (or not) up to the sh*tty expectations you were never required to set for yourself.

Get over the idea that there's some better version of you that is yet to exist and assign yourself the patient duty of transforming the beautifully imperfect person you are today further into who she already is and who she is becoming.

And, pardon my language, but f*ck the idea that getting up and getting going isn't enough.

It's all you ever have to do.

You don't have to look pretty doing it.

You don't have to do it the fastest.

You don't have to be the most couth.

And let life happen and be grateful for it's lessons.
