Us, mamas,
we serve.
We serve our kids.
We serve our spouses.
We serve the dog.
We serve our friends.
We serve our community.
We serve our kid’s schools.
We serve anyone and everyone we can.
Not because we have to,
but because we want to.
We serve a good God
and we serve up to any human who needs it,
encouragement,
support,
empathy,
and
inspiration if it’s sought.
Even when we don’t have the energy to serve
we still serve.
And don’t get me wrong,
we’re not always gleeful givers.
Even us “servers” enjoy serving up our opinions
— the unwanted kind —
and we’ll also serve you back a good jab if you’ve lent yourself to be on the receiving end of one.
Because we’re not perfect.
Still…
us, mamas,
we serve.
And though we don’t ace every
interaction,
moment,
and conversation,
we sure as hell show up for them,
and that’s a win in itself.
