when I was pregnant with my first child I had a large fibroid tumor growing on my uterus. At 19 weeks shortly after finding out that we would have a boy, the fibroid became necrotic and was causing me severe pain that had basically left me disabled. Finally I was sent to the hospital in Syracuse NY where I shared the maternity ward with other moms with high risk pregnancy. It took a while and a whole team of doctors to figure out the best course of action. On April 11 2013 I was put under and had this 5lb fibroid removed from the outside of my uterus while my baby at 20 weeks stayed safe inside. My family and friends later admitted that it wasn't until after they saw the photo of what looks like a roast that I had been living with that they really didn't understand completely what I was suffering with. Later on I gave birth to an almost 10 lb baby boy full term and perfectly healthy. And no it was not a c section. Today he's almost 5 years old and anxiously waiting for his baby sis to come along.
