From the time they are puppies until they are seniors, our dogs are there for us. So, we need to be there for them as well, and that means giving them the best care possible. In addition to regular vet visits, there are many things that we can do for the health and well-being of our canine companions. The first thing to do is to find the websites that have the best information about dogs. Here are nine of our favorites.

  1. Puppyhood – This is your go-to site for anything and everything you need to know about puppies. Find articles that give you real answers to real questions, use the Puppy Finder to adopt a new pet, choose a breed with the Puppy Picker, and give it a new name by using the Puppy Name Generator.
  2. Pooch Ventures – Your dog needs to be walked a few times each day, but you might not always have the time to do it. This is where a professional dog walker comes in. Depending where you are, you might want to check your local listings for dog walkers, for instance if you are in New York you might want to check out Pooch Ventures. Walks are GPS-tracked, and start at just $18. You can schedule a free walk to see if this is the right type of service for you.
  3. BarkBox – Subscribe to BarkBox, and receive a box filled with treats and toys for your pooch. Each month you will receive a box that contains at least two toys, two bags of all-natural treats, and a chew toy. If your dog doesn’t love everything in the box, you can send it back for a free replacement.
  4. Dogster – This site is loaded with articles about dogs, health care tips for dogs, and a whole lot more. Learn about why dogs behave the way they do, how to relieve arthritis in dogs, which foods are not healthy for dogs, and a whole lot more. You can also click on the “breed finder” to find your favorite breeds.
  5. BringFido – Traveling with pets can be tricky, so you need to know ahead of time hotels allow you to bring your pets along. BringFido will search hotels, destinations, etc. to find the most pet-friendly places. You will find more than 100,000 places to stay, eat, and play with your pet, as well as reviews from other dog owners.
  6. Life with Dogs – This site touts itself as the “world leader in dog news and entertainment”. Here you will find the latest in dog news, information about dog training, articles about dog health, a fan photo gallery, and more. If you are also a cat lover, you will even find a “Life with Cats” page that is loaded with information about our feline fur babies.
  7. VetStreet – This site offers just about everything you will ever need to know about caring for dogs, along with many other pets. Find guides to pet wellness, information on how to keep your dog healthy, articles on training and understanding pet behavior, and a “Find Your Vet” feature that helps you to find a vet in your area.
  8. Modern Dog Magazine – This is the “Lifestyle Magazine for Dogs and their Companions”. Here you will find loads of anything and everything dog-related. You can subscribe to the magazine and the free newsletter, and learn about everything from dog wellness to training to the latest toys to free stuff and a whole lot more.
  9. GoPetPlan – We don’t hesitate to get insurance for ourselves, but did you know that you can also get insurance for your dog?
