Taking your child on the adventure of a lifetime is one of the best things in the world. You’ll enjoy looking at their smile more than the holiday itself. If you’re like most parents you will take more photos than you’ll ever be able to cherish.

Unfortunately, it’s not all good news, traveling with kids isn’t always fun. Luckily, there are a few tips you should remember if you want to lessen the blow. Let’s have a quick look at the essential ones.

1. You Must Double-Check Your Suitcase

I know you’re probably not a forgetful person, but we all forget to pack essential items. It’s easy to fix if you don’t have a big ego. You just need to double-check your suitcase even if you don’t think it’s necessary.

It’s common for people to pack food when traveling, but what if you forget? According to this survey not a lot of people forget to pack their food but you don't want to be in that group. You might be fine waiting until you find a restaurant, but what will your child think? Unless they are older they’ll make your life miserable.

2. Try To Make Sure You Don’t Overpack

We’ve just talked about making sure you take all the essentials with you, but don’t end up on the opposite side of the spectrum. You don’t need to overpack when you’re visiting most countries around the world.

You’ll be able to pick up items you need once you get settled in. If you overpack you’ll have a tough time dragging your suitcase from A to B. Keeping your child under control simultaneously will give you a headache.

3. It’s Better If You Book Into A Hotel

Companies like Airbnb are on the rise, so more people are renting apartments when they travel. It’s opened up a world of opportunities. Even so, if you’re traveling with a child you should book into a hotel.

You can visit the restaurant instead of cooking your own food. A maid will come around every day and clean everything up for you. Basically, you’ll have a lot more free time to spend with your child.

4. Write Down A Few Fun Games To Play

Your child won’t have any access to their toys while away, so you can write down a list of games you can play instead. Bring it out whenever you suspect they’re getting bored, which does happen even on holiday.

If they enjoy treasure hunts at home they’ll be more exciting in a strange country. Small kids can still play hide and seek in a big hotel room. I’m sure you’ll end up with a long list of brilliant ideas.

5. It Should Be Easy To Access The Sea

Everyone knows the human brain loves the sea, so you should be able to access it easily every day. In an ideal world, you won’t fall into the trap of sitting around the swimming pool at your hotel working on your tan.

Will your kid enjoy playing in the pool? Yeah, they will for a while. It won’t be long until they get bored. When they’re at the beach they’ll be able to play in the waves, dig holes, and build sandcastles.

6. Come Prepared For Numerous Delays

You could get stuck in traffic on your way to the airport. If the weather is bad your flight could be delayed. Maybe you’ll need to sit around waiting for hours if you book trips while on holiday.

I don’t need to tell you how challenging it will be for you, so think about how your kid will feel. Come prepared with something like an iPad. They’ll always be able to stay occupied if you run into trouble.

7. Book Somewhere With A Real Bedroom

Your hotel room should have at least (one separate bedroom). You don’t want all the beds to be squashed into the same space. It means you’ll be forced into bed at night when your child wants to sleep.

If there is a separate bedroom you’ll have a sofa bed to sleep on. You’ll be even luckier if you have a second bedroom. Either way, you’ll be able to stay up with your partner well into the night.

Everyone In Your Family Will Be Happy

Follow the tips we’ve laid out today and everyone in your family will have a great holiday. Ignore any of them and you could be in for a nasty surprise. Prepare for the worst and you’ll be able to deal with anything.
