Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

to explain to a teenager who is not interested in physics, if he is not going to associate a profession with it, that he needs to learn all these formulas, laws and theories?

Knowledge of the physical laws of the device of our world is somehow useful to any person. This is the same part of the general cultural basis, as well as knowledge of the basic rules of the Russian language, as orientation in geography or history, as an acquaintance with the general principles of biological evolution...

Only knowing physics, you can design and build houses, factories, cars, power plants. To create radios, cars, spacecraft, even just clothes, and food, you need to know physics.

I will single out 7 main reasons why adolescents need to know physics:

1. To understand the structure of the world. Physics is the science of nature and the properties of the world. We want to know why thunder rattles, ponds freeze before rivers of lightning strikes from the bottom up - we learn multifaceted physics. She scientifically explains the "picture of the world."

2. To understand what is happening to us. We sleep, move, talk, swim - perform actions or are at rest, again thanks to certain physical laws. Why don’t we fall when the earth rotates around its axis and the sun with tremendous speed or why we are not hurt by strong air pressure. Physics answers these questions again.

3. To take care of their safety. Thanks to the beloved science of Newton and Pascal, we understand that it is dangerous to touch bare wires or swim in a thunderstorm. By the way, the idea of the influence of physics on the safety of mankind is actively supported by modern cinema. The next science-based blockbuster popularly tells what knowledge helps us survive in an extreme situation.

4. To solve everyday issues. What bulbs are better to buy in a store? Is food heated in the microwave dangerous? How to cook potatoes faster? Physics again answers these and many other vital questions. Her studies explain that in everyday life it is preferable to use energy-saving lamps, food in a high-quality microwave should be completely harmless, and the potatoes will cook quickly if you add a little butter to the pan during cooking.

5. To develop logic. Physics also disciplines the brain and teaches to think logically. It does not tolerate compromises, clearly explains any events and phenomena and helps to better master other academic sciences, primarily biology, chemistry, and, of course, mathematics.

6. To use modern technology. The incredible discoveries of mankind, such as the construction of a new collider or an orbital telescope, pose the most complex engineering tasks of the highest level. Their solutions are developed by advanced technologies, the results of which we, the humanities, are happy to use. Our lifestyle is inconceivable without modern cars, multi-core processors, social networks, which are always based on simple physical phenomena from the school course.

7. To be an interesting conversationalist. People will respectfully look at the person who will not round his eyes at the mention of neutron stars or the discovery of the Higgs Boson. Of course, it is not necessary to always “be smart”, go into scientific “wilds”, but to raise one’s authority in society with the help of a breadth of knowledge in the field of physics, including, sometimes it is possible. Many people are respected for their knowledge.

In physics, besides the fact that you need to be able to solve problems, conduct experiments, you also need to be able to describe the results of experiments and write essays on general physical topics. This type of work in physics will also help to develop a person’s creative thinking and learn how to analyze. To learn how to describe the results of experiments, it is necessary to study a large number of sample essays to understand how to correctly formulate a conclusion. Physics is more than science, it is all around us.
