Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

The internet is full of lists on how to be a better parent. Lists that promise to make your life easier if you just follow these simple steps, follow these rules, do these things. This is not one of those lists. This my friends is the only parenting hack you will ever need.

Are you ready?

Show yourself grace.

That’s it. This parenting gig is hard. Arguably the hardest and most demanding task you will ever take on. How much better of a parent would you be if you were able to show yourself grace? If you were able to celebrate your parenting successes – to acknowledge your parenting failures – to allow yourself to feel all the joy and all the pain that comes with parenting – without guilt?

Really all we as parents can do is try our best. We love our children deeply. Provide them with what they need to survive and thrive. We sacrifice beyond measure for those sweet faces, yet constantly feel like we aren’t doing enough. “Shouldn’t I be more?”

Fellow Mom, fellow Dad – you are heard. I too feel like I constantly need to be more, do more, more, more, and more. But, here’s the trick – I cannot do it all. You cannot do it all. You shouldn’t have to, and let’s be real, you shouldn’t be made to feel like you have to. So my parenting hack – my gift to you is this – love your children and show yourself some grace. You deserve it. What’s more, your children deserve to see you acknowledging the need for grace in all situations. So please, go enjoy some guilt free parenting – adore your children – do what your heart knows is best. And when you mess up – apologize and seek grace not only from your children, but from yourself.
