As a worried Dad, I am pretty much concerned how my kids interact with the technology in the internet age. I am very sure all of us do.

Today I would like to talk about one serious issue that gets ignored by most parents. Our kids love to watch TV for hours, surf endlessly the internet on smartphones and playing games on Laptops all the time. With all these basically the kids are actually glued to screens in general.

Not many parents know the fact that these screens are constantly emitting harmful BLUE LIGHT.

Blue light waves are the among the shortest, highest energy wavelengths in the visible light spectrum. Because they are shorter, these "Blue" or High Energy Visible (HEV) wavelengths flicker more easily.

It can result in eyestrain, headaches, physical and mental fatigue caused by many hours sitting in front of a computer screen or other electronic device.

Harmful effects of Blue Light from Gadgets.

  1. Blue light exposure may increase the risk of macular degeneration.
  2. Blue light contributes to digital eye strain.
  3. Disruptions in Circadian Rhytm
  4. Increased Risk of Depression
  5. May cause Permanent Eye Damage
  6. Greater Risk of Certain types of Cancers.

The Solution

The obvious and the smartest solution to this issue is to simply decrease the time your kids spend in front of any screen whatsoever.

But that's not a cake walk. Kids also learn a lot of stuff from these gadgets and technology. So, what I recommend is to use tinted gaming glasses that prevent the harmful blue light from entering your kid's eyes. You may want to check this list of best gaming glasses and choose according to your budget and liking.

Hope this post has helped you in recognizing the hidden danger that your kids face daily. Now it's your time to take care of them.
