Everyone wants to have an efficiently clean laundry system. Of course, one of the most important deciding factors is the type of detergent soap to be used. Basically, finding the best laundry detergent is not as easy as it seems.

The type of detergent to be used is dependent on a lot of factors such as what your personal preferences are, and what types of clothes you are going to wash. Additionally, the type of washer you are going to use is also an important deciding factor.

There is actually a wide range of detergents that are available in the market: powder, liquid, or detergent pods. To help you decide on which type to choose, we’ve listed below each detergent type’s characteristics and uses.

Powder

If you are looking for a detergent that is great for everyday loads of laundry, powdered detergents are the best for you. Since they’ve hit the market in the 1930s, powder detergents have become one of the most widely used detergents worldwide.

This form of detergent is effective in cleaning various dirt and stains of the outdoors (i.e. grass and mud). As compared with liquid and pod detergents, they are more suitable when washing with untreated hard water because of the presence of stable additives in their formula.

Packaging-wise, powder detergents are more environmentally friendly because they come in recyclable cardboard boxes. Because of this, powdered detergents are the least expensive type of laundry detergents (they have the smallest cost per a load of laundry).

Liquid

Liquid detergents are probably the most popular form of detergent because they are easy to use and they blend well in the wash water.

Liquid detergents are very effective in cleaning stains from food, soil, and even grease because they can penetrate the fibers of the fabric, thus releasing the stain. And because they’re fluid, they can also be used as stain pretreat.

Liquid detergent is the best choice for detergent when the temperature of the water is low. As compared to powder detergents, liquid ones dissolve well in colder temperatures. Relatively speaking, a laundry detergent fundraiser is less expensive when compared to other purchasing options. To date, there are already a lot of liquid laundry detergents to choose from, all coming in a wide variety of scents and amounts.

Pods

If you prioritize convenience over anything, then detergent pods are the best choice. Detergent pods have been around 2012 and are considered to be one of the greatest improvements in the detergent industry in the last 50 years.

Basically, the term “pod” was trademarked by the company Tide. Pods, or single dose pacs, are a type of laundry product that is composed of detergent and softening ingredients contained in polyvinyl packets that readily dissolve in water.
At present, pods are becoming more popular and are already starting to outsell powder detergents.

Despite being convenient to use, pods have the most expensive cost per laundry load. Aside from that, because of their brightly-colored packaging, children often mistake them for candy and result in poisoning.
