Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

Ever think back to that time when you were someone else beside “Mom?”

I recently asked myself, Who am I? I have been Mom, Mama, Mother, Mommy, etc. for just over 10 years now and I think I may have gotten a little lost in who I am.

Now don’t get me wrong, I absolutely positively 100% DO NOT want anyone to stop calling me MOM. I just got to wondering who am I besides “Mom.”

Wikipedia defines Mother as the following:

A mother is the female parent of a child. Mothers are women who inhabit or perform the role of bearing some relation to their children, who may or may not be their biological offspring.

Where have I gone?

I know that “I” am in here, that lovely lady that has a name other than MOM. I think I might have just put myself on the backburner. I might have fell in the bottom of the laundry basket buried under the mountains and mountains of clothes. I am here just gotten a little bit lost.

I think you know what I mean. Maybe you are asking yourself these very same questions. So let’s do it, Moms out there everywhere.

Let’s find ourselves.

Let’s take a flashback to right before kids. What did you look like at that point in our life? What was your hobby before kids? Where did you love to go? What was your favorite thing to do?

Where have I gone? I am still here.

I am not just a mother, I am not only a mom. I am Heather.

My favorite color is red. I have a serious problem with a random love of red shoes.

I love polka dots, I honestly think I carry or wear something with polka dots at least 3-4 times a week.

I enjoy getting in the car and going for a ride, to get lost.

Not knowing where I will end up, hoping to find an adventure and try something new.

I always seem to find the best hole in the wall food spots when I purposely try to get lost.

I love to dance.

Dancing to me is so freeing and great exercise. When the music just grabs a hold of your soul and your body moves without knowledge of time or space.

I enjoy running, when your feet just hit the pavement and the world just moves behind you. Which reminds me that I should sign myself up for a 5k, just so I can run.

Anyone know of a fun run coming up soon?

I enjoy good company, a great conversation, and a glass of wine with friends. Okay maybe just someone to listen and let me vent, because you know #momlife can get to you.

10 years ago I became a mother and I love my children all 4 of them, but sometimes I forget who I am and what I like.
