Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

I was on Facebook today and reminded of a memory I shared from 2015. This is still something I do every year with my children. I think it is important for them to see and understand. My son in the car yesterday told me he hoped that the homeless got to go to peoples houses to get christmas gifts. I think we have something new to do next year! Wrapping up mittens, socks, and some hand warmers in presents with a few dollars, or coffee vouchers! The memory that came up is below:

"I have always had a soft spot for homeless people, I hope to share that compassion with the kids. Today we whipped up 6 more "homeless survival kit" and a couple of puppy bags to hand out as we see homeless people. Avery, Ella and I handed one out to a man today as we were sitting at a red light. We waited around for the light to change and Avery pipes up from the back, "mommy that man is sad." I looked over to see him on his knees looking through the bag weeping. Needless to say I cried the whole way home. I am beyond grateful God has provided me the necessities to be able to help others with their basic needs."

My list is as follows:

  • 2 bottles of water
  • a .99 tooth brush
  • travel tooth paste
  • travel deodorant
  • a trail size razor
  • 2 granola bars
  • a bag of fruit snacks
  • a couple dollars in change in a bag
  • a few pens a notebook
  • carmax
  • olay body bar
  • some lotion and shampoo and conditioner
  • once it gets a little colder I put $1 mittens/gloves in it
