I love making memories by going places that are unique and special. If you are looking to spend some time in a kid-friendly and dreamy desert oasis—Joshua Tree is exactly the place. Last year we went to Joshua Tree National Park as a family and fell completely in love. The stunning views, miles of hiking trails and overall laid back vibe are exactly our speed. And I’ll let you in on a secret…after spending time there I was seriously considering moving West.

Family Vacation At Joshua Tree | Stroller In The CityJoshua Tree is a National Park located where the Mojave Desert and the Colorado Desert meet. It is just a short-ish drive from Los Angeles…probably two hours. There are some touristy things to do like fun vintage shops and places to eat nearby but the main event—the National Park—is enough to take your breath away and fill your kids with wonder.

We visited Joshua Tree over spring break and were pleasantly surprised at how quiet and serene everything was. The park is so large and open it is hardly crowded so you feel like you’re lost in this wild yet enchanting place. Just pack lots of water and try to go early before it gets too hot. My kids loved hiking and climbing rocks—there is also a campground if you are feeling adventurous. My favorite part, besides everything, were the Joshua Trees naturally. Did you know they only grow in that region! Amazing.
