26 Weeker Twins

Around 19 weeks I went in for a routine appointment when my doctor shared with me that I was having contractions and he had concerns about my cervix. This was a huge surprise to me! My only complaint was slight back pain (which turned out to be contractions). I was placed on bedrest immediately. Week after week my cervix shortened and I continued to have contractions. The doctors attempted everything to stop my contractions, but they never completely stopped. On April 12, 2017 at 26 weeks 5 days, my babies made their grand entrance. My son had a rather uneventful NICU stay of 9 weeks. My daughter faced an infection, PDA, 1 blood transfusion, and more. She stayed in the NICU for 13 weeks and came home 3 days before her due date. Today my babies are 7 months old, very active and thriving. We are truly blessed!
