This is an agua fresca, so there’s no ice cubes and it’s not as thick as a smoothie. For the spring and summer time, this is perfectly refreshing. A little tequila or rum would knock this out of the ballpark!

Watermelon Agua Fresca with Lime, Ginger, and Aloe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cold water
  • 4 cups of cubed watermelon, de-seeded
  • juice of one lime
  • 4 thin slices of peeled fresh ginger
  • ¼ cup fresh aloe gel

Preparation

  1. In a blender, combine water, watermelon, lime juice, ginger, and aloe gel.
  2. Blend until well combined and no large chunks of watermelon remain.
  3. To prepare the aloe, cut off the spiny edges and the top and bottom portion. Glide a knife on the underside of one side of the skin to remove it. With the gel side up, score it into cubes, similar to how you would score an avocado. Carefully glide your knife underneath the scored section to remove the gel.
