As the Food Mood Girl, I’ve been sharing my culinary creations and mood-boosting foods with the world for over six years now.
However, this journey really started at age twelve when I was hospitalized for anxiety. For years, I stuffed my feelings down with candy bars and sweet iced tea. After my hospital stint, I started working with a health coach to reduce my anxiety by first cooking in the kitchen. It was then that I discovered the deep food and mood connection that eventually inspired my career as the Food Mood Girl.
As the author of several books, including my award winning cookbook, Food Guilt No More, I love to help women and men guilt less and live more when it comes to their food choices.
I conducted a survey with the Harris Poll and found that 80% of women and 65% of men suffer from food guilt. That’s a lot of Americans feeling guilty every time they go to a restaurant or step into their kitchen.
My goal is to help people recreate dishes that are not only guilt-free and simple, but that also taste delicious.
I would love to bring my creations to the TODAY kitchen because I would love to teach viewers how to stop the guilt food cycle they find themselves in, and instead, learn to love food once and for all.
I served as a talent for ehow.com and have been featured in dozens of media outlets across the country including the Lisa Oz Show, Let’s Talk Live DC, Good Day PA, and Virginia This Morning.
Here is one of my favorite guilt-free dishes called Cookie Dough Contraband. Instead of buying the processed version at the movie theater, you can sneak these sweet treats in instead:
