When I think about the past and about weekends with my Dad, I think it can help to make me a better parent. By no means was my father perfect, he had many of the flaws that can be transferred through life and through different generations. We are a product of the environment and of our life choices and so if you are able to channel those aspects of your life in ways that are on a more enlightened path.

My favorite activity to do with my father on the weekends was to go to the batting cages. My father would try to take me most Saturdays. I really enjoyed that activity with him and I try to do the same with my own son. It is a good way to get out of the house and get some exercise, and work on a task for the two of us.
