Your baby is tired, but why won’t he go to sleep? Lulling a baby to sleep is a massive challenge.

  • Tire your baby out - Going to Disneyland for the day is sure to knock out my child for a solid 11-12 hours at night. If only my wallet could afford daily trips.
  • But don’t make the baby overtired - Babies typically need naps during the day, and if any are skipped, not only do they become monster versions of themselves, they also have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. Seems to make little sense but moms you know what I’m talking about.
  • Have a bedtime routine - Research still indicates that keeping a set bedtime leaves to best sleep
  • Make it dark - Babies and adults alike sleep better under dark conditions. If you don’t want to redo the window covers in the room, get temporary blackout shades.
  • Negotiate with your child - Whether it’s negotiating how many books to read, or listening to your child “self settle”, there’s a bit of back and forth that goes on.
  • Promote healthy sleep habits - At the end of the day, we all want to promote sleep habits that will keep get your child to sleep on his/her own without intervention. If you have to rock your child to sleep every night, that will be a sleep association that will require weaning at some point.

Good luck!
