Did you want to mine data when you were growing up? Deep learning was probably something you experienced when you tried hard at school. Those kinds of things weren’t even being developed in the good old days, so it’s hard to guess what the future holds.

You will need to prepare your child for a job that doesn’t exist yet. I’m sure subjects like math and physics will come in handy, but you’ll need to teach them special skills. We’re going to look at a few examples you should focus on.

1. Keeping An Open Mind Is Important

Don’t follow what is happening in society at the moment. People are being forced to pick a side and stick with it. Even if they don’t believe everything their side says they’re not speaking out about it.

Political gossip isn’t the same as education, but it shows you what can happen if you can’t keep an open mind. Those who can do this will win everything, because they’ll see things long before anyone else.

2. Becoming Comfortable With Complexity

I bet you used to say you weren’t a rocket scientist when someone asked you a tough question. We used to think building a rocket was the most complex thing in the world. Smart children will likely have to deal with worse.

You must try to get them used to complexity. If it doesn’t happen they’ll look at things with the same puzzled look as everyone else. Once they get into programming everything gradually gets more complex.

3. Setting Big Goals You Can Achieve

Goal setting has been around for a while, but I don’t know how many people do it correctly. It’s going to get harder in the next few years when things get more complex. You want goals to take you on a journey.

You’ll have a big goal you’d like to hit some day, but you should only be focused on achieving little wins. Each one should take you one step closer to the main one. Only focus on outcomes you have control over.

4. Having The Motivation To Take Action

I wonder how kids are going to turn out after living through the last decade. If they’re not checking notifications on their phones, they’re chilling out watching Netflix. Notifications plus streaming equals procrastination.

We might end up with a generation of procrastinators, but you can’t let your child fall into the trap. Teach them how to instantly motivate themselves 24 hours per day and they will succeed at anything.

5. Learning How To Learn Effectively

If you were an eCommerce store owner or SEO reseller you would have to learn sales. It seems like a pretty normal thing you’d expect to learn. Subjects like geography, marketing, and economics are normal too.

Things get weird when you realize you can learn how to learn a new skill. If you can achieve this you’ll be able to adapt, so it makes sense. You have to do a lot of reflecting about different learning methods you use.

Start Teaching These To Your Child Now

I’d like to say we’ve got a while before the world gets turned upside down, but technology is moving at such a fast pace. It’s hard to guess how long it will be before we start seeing things change before our eyes.
