On August 4th, 2014, following a complicated pregnancy we welcomed our daughter into the world. Born at only 25 weeks, she had a long fight ahead of her. After much deliberation, we decided on the name Sloane, meaning fighter. Her NICU stay was filled with many ups and downs and wondering if and when she would ever come home.

On December 15h, after 133 days in the NICU, we finally welcomed our little girl home. At discharge, she weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces, more than 4 1/2 times her birth weight. She truly is a little fighter.

Today Sloane is an amazing little 3 year old girl. She is just a normal kid-- running around, playing and talking up a storm. Pretty amazing for a girl who was under 2 pounds! Looking at her, one would never guess that she had such a difficult beginning. We are so grateful to the NICU staff at New York Presbyterian/Cornell for taking such good care of Sloane!
