Perhaps the best news in health is that obesity rates appear to be leveling off to children and parents.

The bad news is that the level is 35%. It would be great this were an apogee but the concern is that it might just be a new plateau.

Efforts continue to address the obesity epidemic, and related health concerns such as diabetes. One approach is through policy. Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg has worked hard to support sugar taxes which have been shown to reduce obesity. Other areas are exploring sugar taxes.

This is just an example of people using policy changes, lifestyle changes, and technology to address key health problems.

This is where the real good news is, people working together, using data and evidence based research to address major health concerns in our country.
