I hope this isn't seen as too much like blatant publicity seeking but I'd like to let you all know about a new travel website I've created called Farm Stay Planet. It's basically a directory of agritourism/farmstay vacation providers worldwide, i.e. farms that open their doors for visitors to stay overnight.

In the States this isn't such a big thing yet, and we only have a few listings here so far, but it is already a very popular concept in most of Europe, in places like Italy, and Tuscany in particular, (which gave us the word agriturismo), it is hugely popular.

What we do have in the States though already is something of a movement in terms of knowing where our food comes from, and knowing that food sourced locally is better in so many ways, and farmstays can, or should, be an important part of this. I know too from experience that kids really love it, and of course it can also be very educational for them.

Anyway, I hope it will be of interest to some of you. As mentioned the listings are a bit thin on the ground in some regions but we hope that will change soon as people become more aware of the concept and the value it brings.
