Almost every girl out there dreams of having kids when they get older. Since we were little girls and started playing with our dolls we were preparing ourselves for the day when we could finally settle down and start a family. But what many of us never realized is actually how hard it is and all of the obstacles that come with having children.

In the fifties, most of us were able to stay at home and take care of our children while our husbands went to work. But these days both parents need to work to support our family which leaves us very little time and quite exhausted. If you find yourself drinking too much coffee trying to keep yourself energized trying to do it all, here are some ways you can keep yourself motivated to not want to throw in the towel:

1. Ask Your Kids For Help

Quite often parents try to be "supermom" thinking they can just do it all and don't want to ask for help. Sadly, some think this is some sign of weakness when this could not be further from the truth. In fact, most kids are looking for a project they can get involved with. It's all about how you frame it to them.

If you propose the idea as some boring chore or task, then yes, they won't want to do it. But if you present it in a way where its an adventure and they believe you are sending them off to accomplish a quest, then rest assured they will want to help you. Just be creative with how you pitch it to them!

2. Take Mini Vacations

Of course who doesn't want to go to Hawaii or Mexico for a week to just bask under the sun. Unfortunately many of us just don't have the time or money to do so. But this does not mean you can squeeze in little mini vacations here or there.

In this day and age of AirBnB, now more than ever it's possible to find luxury homes at affordable prices where you can go away for a day, soak in the tub, and be by yourself where you can enjoy some alone time. If you take the time to plan accordingly and ask your husband, relatives, or friends, I am sure they would all want to support your ability to just check out for 24 hours so you can rejuvenate and refresh.

3. Read Inspirational Materials

Keeping your mind and spirit uplifted is going to be paramount if you want to stay positive through all of the challenging obstacles that come with raising children. You need to be constantly feeding your mind with good material. Whether you are reading books, affirmations, inspirational quotes, or listening to audio programs, its vital that you set aside at least thirty minutes a day to consume information that inspires you in some fashion.

Just remember, if you don't take time for yourself then you won't have much to give to your family. So just know that its your job to be selfish every so often.
