Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

My son has been in kindergarten for about three weeks now.

Three weeks of mask wearing.
Three weeks of sitting in desks spaced far apart.
Three weeks of eating lunch in the classroom.
Three weeks of limited activities.

And you know what?

He's fine!

Actually, he's more than fine, he's great. He's made new friends, got to create cool projects in art, spent time reading outside, learned about mindfulness and more.

My son is enjoying school, and considering all the restrictions and measures put in place to keep him safe, it's no small miracle.

And for that, I say thank you.

Thank you to the hard-working custodial staff who clean the school daily to ensure our kids can study in a healthy environment.

Thank you to the construction workers, electricians and others who refurbished an old school building so all Kindergarteners could come to school if their famiies so chose.

Thank you to the staff who warmly welcome my son every morning at school drop off and ensure he safely gets picked up by me every afternoon.

Thank you to my son's teacher and aides who help make learning fun and exciting.

Thank you to the art teacher, gym teacher, music teacher and others who bring special programs to the classroom.

Thank you to the principal and other administration who keep things running so smoothly.

Thank you to all who make this possible.

I know it's not easy, and I am grateful.

The future is uncertain, and school may very well close down in a month, but while it remains open, I will be grateful for all they are doing.
