Dear moms with bitty babies. Babies whose age you still can (easily) count in months.

Soon, maybe just next year, summer will be different.

The heat won’t be as scary. Sleep schedules will be more flexible. The water won’t cause tears. Nursing and diapers will be behind you.

You will ditch the thick, impossible to rub in, “natural” sunscreen for the kind that sprays. You will only need to pack one bag. Balanced meals will be swapped with a diet of goldfish and fruit snacks when hunger strikes and it will be fine.

You will get to come out from the shade and the AC. You will get to get in the water. You may even feel like enjoying a couple spiked seltzer’s.

Dear new momma. It’s hard to sit on the sidelines. It’s hard to pack alllll the bags each weekend. It’s hard, okay and good to worry about the sun, the heat, sleep schedules and hydration.

And, it’s okay to not love summer right now. It’s okay to be bummed. Next summer will be different. You will love summer again. Maybe even more than you loved it before.

Next summer will be different.

Love,

The Toddler Mom
