Don't Fall into the Cute Nursery Trap

Have a cute nursery. Do. Spend hours, like I did, poring over Pinterest and Pottery Barn. Just don't go crazy.

What do I mean? I mean, don't make your nursery so pretty that it isn't functional. Forget all of those pretty glass jars that toddler hands will be able to reach in a year. Unless you want to redecorate.

Forget about just setting up the monitor in a way that it doesn't affect the aesthetics of the room. Keeping it away from a newly standing (or sitting) baby is way more important.

The perfect book with the cutest little side table, or the bookshelf that seems flimsy? It is. Your baby will pull it over, and climb on it in less than a year.

The dangly chandelier, or DIY project that hangs over the crib? Just don't. Especially if it's low enough to grab.

By all means, make it as pretty as you want. Just don't forget to make it functional, otherwise you will be redecorating very soon.
