This is a new spin on a classic crumb cake recipe. A delicious chocolate chip crumb cake for breakfast or brunch.

Chocolate Chip Crumb Cake

Cooking Time: 40 min

Ingredients

  • 1-½ sticks unsalted butter, room temp.
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ¾ c sugar
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-½ cup flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips, semi-sweet

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Spray a 9x12 pan with non-stick spray.
  3. Prepare streusel - combine first 5 ingredients and set aside.
  4. To make the cake - cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the milk.
  6. Add the vanilla and egg
  7. Add the dry ingredients.
  8. Fold in the chips.
  9. Pour into cake pan.
  10. Top with streusel.
  11. Bake for 40 minutes.

Recipe Tags

I like using mini chocolate chips because they stay suspended in the batter.
