Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

What I Wish I had Known: Delivering Twins

There are a million things I wish someone would have told me about having twins. For example on the day I delivered I went in for routine monitoring (you are monitored twice a week, in your last trimester with twins). They said your blood pressure is high we are going to take you to L&D (I was 4 weeks from my due date) I was thinking, "wait I'm not ready, my mom won't be here for another two weeks." I didn't have much time to think. I wish they would have told me to bring my hospital bag every time I had an appointment, because I didn't realize they could keep you. My poor husband was in a panic trying to bring everything we needed. SInce my blood pressure was high I didn't know that I could have complications after the C-section. I use to think, oh you go in, they get the babies out, sew you up. The end. Not the case for me. During the delivery I had a horrendous headache and after I kissed each baby and was wheeled into recovery I suffered a seizure, completely blacked out. I woke up as they were scanning my brain and then again in ICU; separated from my babies. A multiple pregnancy and C-section aren't a walk in the park. It was the happiest and scariest day of our lives. Luckly I recovered and was reunited with the babies the next day.  If you are expecting twins I urge you to ask a lot of questions, have all your ducks in a row, and always keep your overnight hospital bag packed and ready.
