Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

The little bear is 7.5 and still wants sleepovers with mom and dad.
And we don't say no.
I mean, I had sleepovers with my sister all the time, so I get the excitement of it all.

But this guy is an only.
A one and done.
He misses what he doesn't know, which is having a sibling.

And to be honest, sometimes my heart breaks a bit.
I feel guilty.
I feel sad.
I too miss what I don't know, which is having a second child.
But what's done is done, and here we are.

So we have sleepovers.
We give him two days a week and we share the duty. No, we don't go to bed when he does. In fact, we wrestle the small child into position so we can get aboard when the time comes.
He doesn't make it easy to move him around in his slumber, but we do it.

And even though he doesn't know when we get there, he wakes up to see us there, keeping our promise.
And he smiles.
We do it because one day he won't ask us anymore.
I do it because even though I get a shit night's sleep, I know I'll miss these days one day.
