Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

On the road to following your passion there will be many obstacles and challenges; leaving those who are not focused or sure about their decisions headed down a path of inevitable disappointment. Meanwhile, our children are watching as we are unhappy with our current position, lifestyle and habits. I used to think being a great parent or role model was about being perfect in the eyes of my children… wrong. Being a great parent is doing the things we want our children to do which is to be happy, healthy and make decisions that will lead them on the path of their ultimate passion.

Leading by example is the best way to do this. So, I would like to share with you four very important things to consider.

One: Do you explore what truly makes you happy? Often times we find ourselves with so many options and abilities we choose what is most convenient rather than what we truly desire to do. This becomes a problem if you’re not passionate about your work and doing what makes you happy. It can become a hobby that brings great joy to your life or an idea for a startup. Either way, the act of self care will teach your child(ren) it's important to do the same.
Two: Do you have a plan? Failure to plan is a plan to fail so look at your options and find resources that compliment your passion. Write down your plan and thoughts, this could mean adding in meditation and yoga three times a week and implementing it as a family. Our going to a local panel on a topic your passionate about and taking your child with you for the experience.
Three: Gradually reduce interactions with what does not compliment your whole-self. We are conditioned to keep relationships not aiding in our growth and development. How do the relationship in your life make you feel? Can you build off the energy or is it draining? Being mindful of this will teach your child(ren) to engage in a growth relationship with their day and people versus a parasitic relationship. If you are not growing from your interactions, it may be time to put the phone down and engage more.
Last and the most important factor is identifying and removing all possible distractions. We rarely pay attention to how valuable our time is and how much we can get out of life if we used it more wisely. The five hours of TV you watch a week can be five hours invested into your dream researching successful models in your industry. Successful people value their time and it is time for you to take on the wealth and success mindset while following your passion.

These four considerations will help you on your path to following your dreams and staying focused. By not talking about your passions but actually following and creating it into something real in your life, you will receive the ultimate reward of freedom. Know you are great and what you believe about yourself others will too especially your children so pick your thoughts like you pick your fruit and shine in your greatness.
