Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

Vulnerability is Trending Right Now -- And I Like it

If I've said it once, I've said it 40 times. I am not one to follow trends. However, I do like to keep tabs on them, and am intrigued by why and how they come about.

A very interesting trend we are seeing right now doesn't have so much to do with the latest weight loss fad or fashionable length of skirt, but the honest way in which content is being shared -- be it with your brand, your chat with the barista or an emotional outpour to your hair stylist.

I don't think I've ever done or said something to "fit in" in my adult life. I'm talking after high school and college. Why? Because not being your authentic self feels terrible. And I would rather wear a mis-matched outfit (my signature look) or admit I don't know what the hell a stock is than pretend to know what I'm talking about or worse, wear an outfit all the bloggers are blogging about.

In the wake of this sudden coronavirus pandemic, we're already seeing brands and high-status people donating money to food organizations and elderly folk, giving away signed copies of their books, and streaming free at-home workouts for people to follow.

This strange -- also scary -- moment in history is teaching us the power of community, and hence, the power of vulnerability. And I am vibing with it.

You know the "Being Kind is Cool" crewnecks? Maybe I make "Being Vulnerable is Cool" t-shirts with this newfound free time.

I encourage you to wear what you want to wear, say what you want to say, behave how you want to behave, and parent how you want to parent -- because it's your way of doing it. Not Gwyneth Paltrow's or your best friend's.

Happy quarantine-ing! May these few weeks (hopefully just a few weeks?) go by swiftly.

I will be googling "what to do on a rainy day" because we've got many cooped up days before us, and because it is actually raining today.

PS! Need a podcast recommendation during the lockdown?

How about some book recommendations?

  1. Super Attractor by Gabrielle Bernstein
  2. Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo
  3. Such A Fun Age by Kiley Reid
  4. Idiot by Laura Clery
  5. Lessons by Gisele Bundchen

Perhaps some online shopping recommendations?
