I will try to make a very long story short :)

My husband and I moved into our new house on May 21st, 2016. We were excited to have more space, and more land to raise a family. We spent the first night in our empty house, excited to wake up the next morning and go shopping for odds and ends!

May 22nd I was exactly 32 weeks pregnant. We started our day with breakfast at home, then went out to run errands! We had a blast together. Next thing I knew, my water broke in the car between stores. We rushed to the hospital.

About 2 hours later, our son was born via emergency c-section because I went into full labor, but he wasn't in a position to be born naturally. The c-section was painful for me, and our son came out with a squished nose, unable to breath. Once they got him to breathe, he was taken to the NICU.

I don't remember a lot of that first day, as I was quite drugged. My husband however, was a mess, although he didn't show it on the outside. We had wonderful family who brought belongings from home, then just left us alone for over a day.

Our son made gains every day. We got to hold him on day 5 - those 5 days felt like months. The nurses and doctors were miracle workers every minute of the day and made the situation as "good" as it possibly could have been. Our son had minimal setbacks and was able to go home after 28 days in the NICU. He's now 17 months and caught up physically and cognitively. He is the joy of our lives!

We're expecting baby #2, so the emotions are a roller coaster as we reach that 32 week mark with this baby. However, knowing that we will have the support we did with our first, if this baby decides on an early arrival, helps us get through the anxiety. While it's starting to become a distant memory, the anxiety of every minute of those 28 days will forever leave an imprint. We're so thankful that God gave us our son and he will always be our little miracle.
