My son Jonah Asher Yarbrough was born on April 15th, 2016 at 25 weeks gestation. He was born weighing 1lb 13oz and 13 inches long. When I first laid eyes on him I couldn't believe how tiny he was. He was so little and fighting for his life. At what was supposed to be a happy time in my life, I was so scared. So many scary thoughts ran through my head. Would he make it through these next months?!

Not getting to hold your baby is probably one of the hardest things. You should get to cuddle and kiss and hug on your new baby, not just sit beside him and just watch him through those little holes in the incubator. But that day that you finally do get to hold your baby will be a day you will cherish forever! Then comes kangaroo care which is also just as wonderful! I would always get all the cuddles I could!

Jonah overcame so much during his NICU stay. Some days were so hard. You just have to keep your faith strong. Pray, pray, pray! You will get through it! Your nurses will become family! Lean on them, I know we did! They are angels!

Jonah came home on August 11th, 2016 after spending 118 days in the NICU. He is now 19 months old and doing amazing. Watching your little one go from a tiny 1lb little baby to now a 25lb growing boy is just AMAZING!!

Jonah is one of the strongest little boys I know. I am so proud to be his mom.
