June 2 1996...how could I possibly know that this baby that weighed 1 pound 7.5 ounces would change so many lives. John endured more pain in the 379 days he stayed in the NICU than anyone should in a lifetime. Multiple gut surgeries from complications from NEC, laser eye surgeries on both eyes, bilateral hernia repair, tracheostomy, multiple respiratory deteriorations and blood transfusions. John is now 21 years old, and has touched countless lives, has the sweetest spirit and is so happy. He has made me a better person and I am so proud of him.
