Our Daily Reminder As Moms

I know that I’ve probably mentioned on several times that being a mom is really hard. Well, I’m saying it again, being a mom is really, really hard. Yes, the world places pressure on men to be good fathers, but women carry the burden far more frequently than men. There are so many days that I question everything as a mom, whether it’s to fix a vegetable with dinner or if I should just let them eat the meat with chips. Should I get everything ready for the next day tonight or just wing that crap in the morning? Should I allow my kid to watch YouTube Kids just this last time so that I can shower in peace? The decisions of what is the right thing to do are endless. My husband is a great dad and is as hands-on as a parent as he knows how to be, but my kids scream my name first and all the time, even while he is in the room with them. Irritating as crap!

I stumbled upon the video “Love What Matters” and it immediately gave the burden of my thoughts a lift. I forgot that I wasn’t doing mommy life and all it’s insecurities alone. It reminded me that all moms are slowly losing themselves one day and getting themselves back the next. We are all thinking in our heads about what we need to do when we get home or the next day. We are all on the ready fight mode when it comes to our children being mistreated at school or at a practice. We are all trying to reason with ourselves about why we shouldn’t allow fortnite in our homes, but the joy and break from parenting that it gives us is so necessary.

That’s why it pisses me off when those that have never walked in the shoes of a mom have so much to say about what can be done to remedy this or that. Until you have done it for 365 you really should swallow your opinion. Moms I’m proud of you and I want you to know that you’re not alone. Being caught up on laundry and preparing dinner perfectly every night will not ease the wonders of your mind. This is what we can do instead. We can pray and then find a song to keep in our hearts throughout the day. Keep a pic of our babies close by to remind us of the reasons that we go so hard as a stay at home mom or a mom that works outside of the home. We can find one scripture that reminds us of our grace and mercy that God extends to us daily when we fall short or lose our tempers. We can take the nap before bedtime in the evening or during the day when the baby finally gives in. We can buy the outfit that we love instead of feeling guilty for not shopping for our children this one time. I know what it’s like to feel on top of the world as a mom and how it feels to think I’m misunderstood and all alone. We are moms 365 and we are the best moms that our babies could ever have in this lifetime.
