Being a parent of a NICU child is so hard. With out first daughter she was born 6 weeks early. She was only 4lbs. She was otherwise healthy except she couldnt breath while sucking. She stayed for 11 days on a feeding tube. One thing I loved about our NICU was that we were able to stay in a room outside the NICU the last night. Our third child, born this May, was rushed to the NICU she was born at 38 weeks. It was a very hard labor. She wasnt able to breath on her on. She also couldnt keep her blood sugar levels up. Not being able to see her for 6 hours after birth was hard but then we were told we couldnt hold a sweet little girl. They were unable to get blood or an iv in her head so they had to surgicaly place in through her navel. It was day 3 before we could lean her up to feed her. I have never been so sadden in my life to sit there looking at your little one not being able to rock her as she cries or pick her up for those late night snuggle feedings. We were very lucky to have those awesome amazing doctors and nurses that God placed in our local NICU.
