Most people think about trying new things, see new places after college but Kevin and his partner Sam Rozitis, it was more than just taking some time to travel. The two couldn’t just picture themselves building their lives in Vancouver, and they didn’t have to because one day Kevin suggested they move to New Zealand.

Yes, New Zealand to most people is quite a move, especially for someone in Canada or America. Sam and Kevin got themselves working holiday visas and headed to the land of sheep. The couple was studying engineering, and after six months in Wellington, they both had jobs. It was after two years, on their way back from a holiday break in Canada, that they realized that New Zealand was their life.

This story is similar to many more of young people who go to New Zealand on working holiday visas and end up relocating. The allure of living in this top vacation spot is understandable. When you merge the heart of the natives and the adventurous spirit of the people who settle here, it becomes one of the most cultured places in the world. It offers the perfect atmosphere to rebuild something new.

The quality of life in New Zealand has always been up there with the best of them. This island has maintained consistently high stats in environmental quality, health, and income. Want to test it out? Then a working holiday visa allows you to do that for a year then you can decide where to get your first home on the island.

Moving on a Visa

The New Zealand government allows American citizens under 30 years to obtain a working holiday visa, valid for one year. It means that you can work without legal residency for 12 months. For a UK citizen or Canadian, the visa is valid for 23 months. Of course, there are requirements.

Firstly, you must be 18, which makes sense considering you are making decisions about relocating 6,000 miles across the ocean. Anyone with intentions of working while on a visa must prove that he/she has 4,200 NZ dollars. The point is to ensure that you can sustain yourself as you look for a job. Some advice – four thousand in New Zealand won’t stretch very far when you don’t have a steady income.

You may wonder, what if I am over 30? New Zealand is always looking for talent to fill the gaps in the country. The technological and engineering sectors are two of the most promising for experienced professionals. Anyone with outstanding talent in other fields such as sports can apply for the skilled visa. If you are fortunate to have experience and qualifications in areas with worker shortages, then the chances of getting in are high. You can visit the official immigration website of New Zealand to learn more about the different kinds of visas available.

The New Zealand Lifestyle

The people here set the pace for work-life balance, and that is the biggest motivator for many young people. Juggling a social life and trying to advance your career can take a toll if you don’t know how to handle it properly. New Zealanders take their jobs seriously, but that is not all they do. You will find inspiration to go out to enjoy the vibrant streets and exquisite beaches.

Booking a private New Zealand tour is one way to experience the island's magic at your own tempo. The beautiful climate and natural scenery offer more than enough to fill your free time. Transportation is not a big challenge when on the island and the public healthcare system is one of the best globally. Combine that with the clean atmosphere, and you have the ideal place to give your life the boost it needed.
