Before him, I moaned and groaned over little people that could argue with the best of them before they turned 3. That was me before him.

Before him, I used handicapped restrooms because I found the extra space nice to have. That was me before him.

Before him, I thought to myself that it would be fun to have a service vest for our dog so we could take her places. That was me before him.

Before him, I never understood people that had "runners."

Before him, I never said, "I just don't know what else to do."

Before him, I didn't understand what it felt like to be motivated in a way that could be passionately vicious.

Before him, I looked at families with special needs children and quite honestly, I felt awash with pity. That was me before him.

Before him, I had a neat and tidy life, not without its tragedy, but careless and unacknowledged smooth sailing. That was me before him.

Before him, I oft wondered what I would do with my life, what mark would I leave on this earth, how would I be remembered. That was me before him.

I like this me.
