Most women would agree that there is absolutely nothing fun in working out and trying to lose some weight. I must admit that I was one of those women. I tried very hard to find a workout regime that will suit me, because I found it quite difficult to lose the weight I gained during pregnancy. The first time was the hardest, but after that I learned some tricks along the way. And now I want to share them with all the other women that experienced the same troubles as me.

Martial Arts

Believe it or not, but martial arts definitely helped me a lot with losing my baby weight. I’m not much into these kinds of sports, so I was a bit skeptical, but it actually turned out great. I personally recommend kickboxing and karate. The trick is not to overdo it the first couple of months. These practice sessions were genuinely amazing, because beside the fact that they really help you lose weight in no time, they relieve stress like crazy! I remember that I was feeling much relaxed and better after just a couple of weeks. Capoeira is also a good choice, but perhaps for some more adventurous women.

Wii

I definitely don’t regret purchasing Wii. It was a great decision; especially the first couple of months after the baby was born. I was stuck in the house, overeating and really wasn’t in the mood to go outside. It was actually my husband’s idea to motivate me to start moving again. We started playing together and it was a real stepping stone. It helped both him and me to lose weight. It seems just like a game but it really burns you out. After I lost some initial weight I was more confident to go outside and look for other ways to exercise.

Workout with friends

Some researchers claim that working out at the gym with a friend causes you to feel less physical pain and allows you to push yourself further. Synchronized physical activity such as laughter and music during exercise is an excellent bonding activity, while we do some great job for our body too. What is more, you don’t have to go to the gym – together you can invest in some essential commercial fitness equipment and you can hang out at your home gym, which I exactly what I did with a friend of mine.

Walking and Strolling

This is something that I recommend for every new mum. The trick is to just leave the house. Trust me; don’t make the same mistake as I did. Leave the house, put the little one in the stroller and off you go. Pick a nice destination point, a park, a lake or something similar, it will be of much help. I started with 30 minutes a day, but afterwards you wouldn’t see me at home for a whole day. This was great because I could spend quality time with my baby and my husband if he decided to join us.

My advice for every new mum is just to keep a positive attitude and to actually start doing something. I know how hard it is to activate yourself but trust me the key is just to get going. When you start it will be quite difficult to stop and the results will be amazing. You will be feeling better both physically and mentally. Just be sure not to overdo anything, the best thing is to consult with your doctor before doing any kind of workout, just to be safe.
