In the wake of terrible tragedy, heartbreak, devastation, or disappointment, we need not apologize or run from our intense emotions. We should allow ourselves space and time to feel what we feel. We surrender. We give ourselves over to grief and sit in it for awhile.

We may feel alone, but it's important to remember that we don't have to be. We talk things out. We journal and meditate. We reflect. We grieve and cry and hurt and pray. And then, when we're ready, we take the pain and let it break us open. We become another, more authentic and beautiful version of ourselves. We survive.

It is the loving and losing that makes the human experience such an exquisite, delicate, fierce, amazing thing.

Live in the present. It's the only time we get.
