Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

“Is the child alive?”

It’s a question I was asked today at my new doctor’s office.

To be honest, tears filled my eyes:

Not all children survive.

I thought about stillbirths.
I thought about abortions.
I thought about my own miscarriage.

For when our kids are jumping on the beds and off the walls, I think we forget all the beautiful ways God has stitched their lives together.

The birth complications that never materialized.
The car seat that kept them safe.
The health issue that magically resolved.

There are countless blessings that we miss every single day.

But, this morning, in that simple question, the grief of at least 1,000 mothers hit me.

And I remembered to thank God for the precious life He has trusted to me...trusted to us all.

Parents, your “heart work” matters.

And let every single rambunctious moment serve as a reminder:

In their living, we get to live, too.
