Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

When I taught my kids how to ride a bike several years ago, we had a little lesson in perseverance, mindset and failure.

We talked about what it would look like when they crashed. I told them they would fall, I taught them to expect it. Failure is inevitable, let’s understand it, anticipate it, not fear it or dwell on it and get right back up.

I taught them to repeat a mantra in their head:

“I can do it, I can do it, I can do it”.

And when they fell, I made sure they were okay, I congratulated them for being brave enough to try and I told them we were going to get back up. We never ended a bike lesson with a fall.

It was never about learning to ride a bike, it was learning how to navigate life, and I hoped that it stuck with them.

Today, my son sent me this video of him teaching his sister to skateboard.

Mamma. Heart. So. FULL. ❤️❤️❤️

So proud of the little people they continue to develop into, and grateful that l I learned these tools myself so I could teach them to my littles.
