Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

Changing your perspective in life sometimes takes intentional actions; actively changing the narrative in your head.

I am #committed to living a life of abundance. By seeing life as abundantly good, we immediately have enough. It’s not always easy though, desire for more or better can be hard to deny.

We recently went to an estate sale in our neighborhood. It just happened to be in a million + dollar house. We do not live in a million dollar house, this one, an outlier, just happens to be located in our neighborhood.

I could hardly look at the items for sale because I was so focused on the space. The soaring ceilings, the hallway that went on forever, the stately wood floors that I could easily imagine myself puttering around on.

For a moment, I imagined how our family could fit into that space. I staged one room as an office, and contemplated how I’d arrange the formal living room. Would I put the antique chairs by the window or the fireplace?

I felt the pang of wanting something else and intentionally began focusing on the abundance that exists within my life now.

I love our house. It’s our home and it fits us as a family in the most complete way. I needed to refocus on the abundance that we actually have. I was intentional in reminding myself about that.

I believe that time, a hot bath, and rest can cure all that ails you. Sometimes, though you have to make intentional changes, you can’t just wait for things to get better. The same thing applies here. Intentionally focusing on abundance creates abundance. It’s like the loaves and fishes. Suddenly you have more than you need.

Once I reminded myself of the abundance in our life now, I realized that the million dollar home really wouldn’t fit our life now anyway.

There’s no playroom. Where would I house eleventy thousand LEGO sets?

Extra bedrooms are upstairs. Having us all together across the hall is what we have always wanted. I want my kids close, especially as they get older.

Honestly, I’ve thought an awful lot about it and I still can’t figure out where to put the tv.

Remember, comparison is the thief of joy. I am #committed to not letting any person, place, or thing steal my joy. I’m #committed to always seeing the abundance in the life I am living.
