Challenge: Bringing Home Baby: What Do You Wish You’d Known?

I didn't know what to do with her when we got home

The one thing I wish I'd known before bringing baby home was what to do when I got there. I went into her nursery and sat there in the rocking chair not knowing what to do next. She was fed and changed but what next? Do I put her in her crib, do I put her in the bouncy chair, she looks too small for the swing, do I just hold her?

This may seem like an easy answer but for me it wasn't. I didn't have any idea what to actually do with her when it wasn't time to eat or sleep. I ended up holding her for a while and just staring at her in awe. In time I did what I felt was right -- when I was awake she spent time in her bouncy chair or in my arms, she spent nights in her crib, and once she was big enough she spent time her swing.

I found this question easier to answer the second time around. When I came home with my twins I knew exactly what to do.
