Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

Here, mom, hold my ... everything

Anybody else walk through the door, carrying every bag your kiddos kept up with for the entire day and then some?

Sure, I’ll haul inside three 20-pound backpacks, three lunchboxes, that nearly-dry finger painting, snack wrappers, my mug of cold coffee and whatever was in the mailbox.

No sweat. Because I’m their mom.

I teach my kids to pick up after themselves; to hold the door open for strangers; to appreciate help and to lend a hand.

Yet, I’ll still take my turn at serving them when I’m able. Because I’m their mom.

Some days, I’m stretched and tired and resentful.

Some days, I see each quick step they take and know I’m watching time march right on by.

But right now, they need me.

They trust me.

They hand me their dreams and expect me to help hoist them up.

And I will. Because I’m their mom.

And their cheerleader.
And their confidant.
And their example of what strength and dignity look like.

So I’m not surprised I’m the one they ask to hold their everything.

I’m their mom. I’ve been holding onto them since day one.
