According to recent data gathered by the Pew Research Center, stay at home moms are once again on the rise.

As a stay at home mother yourself, you know that self-care, getting enough sleep, and sometimes even finding five minutes to take a shower can be tough!

But when you're feeling overwhelmed (which is, um, pretty much all the time!) it's important to create a stay at home mom schedule.

In this post, you'll learn tips on how to make time for your kids, your relationship, and most of all, yourself -- all without losing your mind.

Create At-Home Sanctuaries

As a stay at home mom, you know that finding a moment alone can be tough. Sometimes, you can't even go to the bathroom without your child knocking on the door!

This is why creating your own space in your home is absolutely crucial. There's nothing wrong with grabbing five minutes in your home sanctuary to refocus. Feel free to take a break to calm down.

Sometimes, your at-home sanctuary can even be your computer desk! You can indulge in some time online chatting with your friends or reading the latest articles on everything from breast-feeding to the real estate bubble.

While mommy blogs are great, they can get judgmental quickly. It's best to limit your time on them.

Plus, giving yourself these short breaks throughout the day helps you to be more in the moment with your kids.

Make Time For Your Health

When creating your stay at home mom schedule, you have to make time for your health. When you're not taking care of yourself, you won't be able to take care of your kids.

Always prioritize sleep, and aim to wake up about half an hour before your kids do to take care of yourself. Your physical fitness matters, too. Working out can seriously reduce stress, and sets a good example for your children.

Look for gyms that offer childcare or a place for kids to play while you hit the treadmill. Instead of going it alone on a diet, consider opting in to meetings or other social groups.

There are even yoga classes that are geared towards both children and adults, so you can teach your kids about taking care of their bodies early.

Also, take advantage of Sunday nights. Use this time to plan for the week ahead, cook meals and freeze them, or make plans with others. Speaking of making plans...

Leave The House

Let's get real: parenting can sometimes feel isolating, especially as a stay at home mom.

It's important for both you and your kids to leave the house at least once a day. This doesn't mean you have to be the mom of the century and take your kids to the water park or the planetarium every single day.

Sometimes, leaving the home can just mean organizing a playdate in the park with other moms, or even going to the grocery store.
