Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

He still cares about the stars.

There are no stars visible tonight. It’s cloudy and hard to see anything. But he still cares.

He asked me to go lay with him on the cold cement. Staring into the sky. At nothing. I of course said yes. Because he still cares.

We looked up for a while. With pretend telescopes crafted from our fingers. Willing the stars to come out. I knew they wouldn’t. But he still cares.

Without skipping a beat or losing his excitement he looked at me and said “Welp, it doesn’t look like the stars are out tonight. Let’s look for the moon!”

Here’s the thing.
Life is what you make of it.
Change your perspective.
Think like my 5 year old.
If the stars aren’t out, look for the moon instead.

I hope he never loses his sense of wonder.
He believes in magic.
And he still cares.

So do that.
Care.
